Staying informed 2011
As part of the PRO (Parents Reaching Out) Grant, the councils of St. Margaret of Scotland, St. Clare, St. Francis of Assisi and Christ the King Catholic Elementary schools are pleased to present Michael Reist and Chris Vollum in a series of workshops for parents that will address the ongoing issues of social media and raising our children in this new type of social environment.
Wednesday May 4th, 7:00-8:00 pm at St. Clare Catholic school (4140 Glen Erin Drive)
Michael Reist – Raising Kids In A New Kind of World
From MSN to piercing, children and teenagers are living in a social environment very different from the one their parents and teachers grew up in. How do we raise our children in such a new world? What are the new rules? Do any of the old rules still apply? This thought-provoking workshop will deal with some of the most pressing issues facing parents and teachers today: the internet, video games, bullying, keeping the lines of communication open – among many others.

His hands-on, user-friendly workshop has been described as a “must see” event that explores the nuts and bolts of how to maximize Facebook’s settings with an emphasis on safety, security and privacy.
Chris’ presentation will include a 55 minute session for the students at each school on the day of his workshop. Find more information about Chris and Facebook 101 at www.socialmediatrust.net
